Tradition
The company was founded in 1890 in Aarau (Switzerland) and developed continuously into a very efficient forwarding and logistics group. Today Hangartner is active throughout Europe with branch offices in 10 European countries.
Hangartner is now amongst the most important freight forwarders in North-South/South-North transport, particularly between Scandinavia, Finland, Germany, Switzerland, and Italy.
Cross-Alps transit is executed in intermodal transport. The cargo is transported on swap trailers or by rail. The fine distribution is then done by lorry to the dispatching or receiving terminal.
Keeping the overall goal of shifting volumes from road onto rail in mind, we decided to unite the sales and organisational structure of Hangartner and our partner DB Schenker more effectively. In detail this means that the Hangartner country organisations (except of Italy) will successively be integrated into the DB Schenker country organisations, both from an operational and legal aspect.
This means for you that the well-known high quality services of Hangartner will be offered now as a new service in the European land transport portfolio of our shareholder, DB Schenker. The new product DB SCHENKERhangartner stands for trucking and rail services from one source. Pick-up and delivery services are handled by truck within the network of DB Schenker, the leading service provider of European land transport.
With this merge we combine the excellence of DB Schenker in road, air and ocean forwarding with the long-term experience and intermodal know how of Hangartner – to offer you as our customer individual and holistic transport solutions.
